Lip correction can be done in terms of enhancing the volume, reshaping, asimetry and contour corrections, as well as rejuvenation. In most cases it is done using the hyaluronic acid fillers, especially designed for these procedures and area, as well as fat grafting.
If the procedure is done by fat grafting, such fat is collected from areas where it is in excess, the fat is processed, and only then injected in the desired area. Before the procedure itself, the treated area is desinfected and anaesthetized with topical anesthesia – in cream.
After the arrangement with the surgeon about the desired effect, the filler is injected in the desired area followed by massage so the filler can set in the right place and give the desired look.
There is a risk of swelling during the first 3 days and the appearance of temporary bruises (lasting 5 days, easy to cover with make-up), especially with the fat grafting procedure as a filler. The patient can continue with normal activities immediately after the procedure and in cases of severe swelling, cold compresses of the treated area can be used. Results are visible within few days or weeks, after the swelling dissapears. In the case of fat grafting, the volume that remains after one month will be permanent in the next few years.
Possible complications
Given the unpredictable percentage of resorption of the fat tissue and collagen in the case of fat grafting, it might be necessary to repeat the procedure for better and more lasting results.
