Chin surgery or receding chin correction, means chin recontouring with silicone implants.
Procedure is done in local anesthesia and requires tests recommended by the surgeon and anesthesiologist – in most cases such tests are laboratory test.
The procedure requires 3-4 cm long incision made in the inner part of a lower lip along the lower gum part. The skin and the subcutaneous tissue are separated from the middle part of the lower jaw and an implant is placed in such space. The same procedure can be made through a small external incision made below the chin.
The stitches, as a consequence of the procedure, are resorptive so there is no need to remove them physically. It is important to use a mild hydrogen and chamomile solution to provide the necessary disinfection in the inner part of the mouth for several days and keep the area from injuries or displacements. Chin affects the face harmony, especially the profile, and this correction enables the harmonization of the upper and the lower part of the face. The final result is visible within a few weeks, as the swelling disappears.
Chin swelling and light bruises are possible in extremely rare cases, implant dislocation is possible.
