Breast ptosis can occur due to different reasons – weight loss, pos pregnancy and breast feeding, as a gravity and aging process consequence... Depending on the cause of the problem, it’s manifestation varies – from nipple ptosis, to non exsisting or pumped out upper breast to completely low breast position.
Breast ptosis is possible in different ages and due to different reason and it is not connected only to women with big breast.
Preparations
As the surgery is done in general anesthesia, all tests recommended by the physician and the anesthesiologist are required – usually laboratory tests with internist examination and ECG.
As ultrasound and mamography are highly recommended.
Surgery
The surgery lasts between 2 and 4 hours and covers the excessive skin removal and breast tissue and nipples repositioning.
There are 3 approaches that can be chosen depending on patients needs – nipple position, excessive skin, fat tissue, gland position…
Technique with an “anchor incision” (inverted T) implies that the scar will have 3 components: circular areola part, vertical on the lower breast part of 5-8 cm long and horizontal in the sub-mammary fold from 5-10cm.
The vertical technique implies that the scar will have only 2 components: the circular areola part and the vertical on the lower breast part.
The peri-areolar technique implies that there will be only one scar – circular around the areola.
Recovery and results
After the surgery it is required to wear special brassiere during 4 weeks. Stitches are removed between the 10th and the 14h day, and harder activities and heavy weight carrying is prohibited during the first month.
Results are immediately visible, but the final look is considered only after a few weeks to few months when the swelling disappears, and the skin and the tissue take their final shape.
Scars will fade progressively in the following months.
Possible complications
Swelling and bruises might appear, temporary hyper-sensibility or numbness, possible asymmetry, as well as temporary nipple area contraction, disappearing after a certain time period.
Mr sc. med. Vladimir B. Stojiljkovic is a pioneer in regenerative surgery in our country – with scientifically based approach he gained a lot of experience in fat transfer, stem cells and growth factors extracted from thrombocyte enriched plasma. Hi was first in our country to do a natural breast enhancement, using patients own fat tissue and BRAVA method for enlargement.
